What is The Barden Party?
The Barden Party was created in 2021 after COVID-19 led to a constant stream of cancellations in the performing arts industry. Within a month we created a performance to travel safely to people’s own gardens. It became a smash-hit, 50-stop, award-winning tour of New Zealand and a 10-show tour of the United States. Now, four years on, we have performed over 450 times with our 4 musical Shakespeares and 4 original works, having toured 4 countries! In 2025, we won Best Theatre Week 2 at the Adelaide Fringe out of 1400 shows for the second consecutive year and then we ventured to Scotland for our first Edinburgh Fringe. In Edinburgh, our tiny kiwi traveling troubadour independent theatre company managed to receive six 5-star reviews from UK review sites and were named The Rec’s Top Ten Shows of the Fringe out of 4000 shows. We’re gearing up to head back 2026 in August…. funding and sponsorship permitting!
